Raine’s Marketing and Product Development Manager is Ready for the Field

Raine Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Will Romes to our staff.  He comes to us as our Marketing and Product Development Manager with the greatest emphasis being on military load carriage.  Will spent six years in the U.S. Air Force and for the last seven years has been a member of the Ohio Air National Guard where he holds the rank of Master Sergeant.  He has been deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was decorated for combat action, valor, and meritorious service.  While deployed, his most recent duty was as Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) for the Iraqi Army/Air Force Security Forces School Baghdad/Kirkuk.  He has spent the last five years as a defense consultant specializing in armor systems and footwear.  In addition to his vast military training and experience, Will holds a degree in Business Administration from Franklin University.

Raine is pleased to add someone with the experience and background that Will brings to the table.  We are certain that his knowledge and ability to reach out to the elite forces going to theaters of operation will help us in our mission to develop and distribute new and improved items to equip the 21st century soldier.  He will spend the majority of his time calling on soldiers on base to discuss their needs and how we can develop gear that works for them.  He will oversee research and development as well as testing and evaluation of new products.  He will also attend the military trade shows where we exhibit.

If you already know Will, you can reach out to him here at Raine to welcome him aboard.   He’d love to hear from you.

Happy 4th of July! Did you know…

Happy 4th of July from Raine Inc.!                                                                                    Here are some interesting facts:

  • The Fourth of July is the date that our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia in 1776.
  • The first official 4th of July party was in 1777 (a year later) in Philadelphia.  Warships along the docks fired a 13-gun salute in honor of the 13 states.  The soldiers who were in the area, paraded through the streets.
  • July 4th has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution (1775-83).
  • It was John Adams who wrote his wife and said that the event should be celebrated with pomp and circumstance, parades, shows, games and more.  What a forward thinker!  What he described is the Fourth of July Celebration as we know it today.
  • The word “fireworks” didn’t come about until 1777 when the first Fourth of July celebration took place.  Before that, they were called “rockets.”  Because they were more visual, they called them “fireworks.”   Later on, the ones that were made for noise (and not beauty) were called “fire crackers.”  In 1880,  “sparklers” were produced.
