Raine’s Production Manager Ready for Products

logo45percent.pngRaine Inc. would like to announce its newest Production Manager, Scott Mello.  In his previous life, Scott was the Production/Operations Manager for Eagle Industries, where he spearheaded continuous development and improvement of the MOLLE manufacturing in Eagles, Massachusetts and Puerto Rico production facilities, implementing the IOTV program and achieving ISO 9001 certification. Prior to his service at Eagle, Scott spent a decade as a project manager building custom Grand Prix boats, Volvo ocean race boats, and America’s Cup yachts. Scott is also an honorably discharged United States Navy veteran.

“We have found a great asset in Scott. He is one of those guys that after 5 minutes you can tell he has his stuff wired tight. This is a really exciting time for Raine, and the addition of Scott just drives that home even more because of the knowledge and expertise he brings to the table. Raine has a lot of new and exciting things going on right now, but I think that as Scott starts to put his stamp on things, you will see great products as a result. We are evolving and this is the next piece; we are really excited about it,” said Will Romes, Raine Inc. Development & Marketing Manager.

Upfront on Experience in the Military by Will Romes

Read firsthand how Will Romes, Raine’s Marketing and Product Development Manager, views his experience of serving the military to now working in the manufacturing side of things.

“Working in the defense contracting industry is very much the same as being in the field as a military member. There’s chains of command, there’s budgets, there are lessons learned and best practices, etc. The military is set up for good order and discipline, with a lot of its work being conducted with guns, but all in all, it’s nothing more than a business whose chief product is providing for the common defense as outlined by our constitution.

I spent a number of years with my boots on the ground leading men, gaining perspective, translating that perspective to the officers appointed over me, and then taking the fight to the enemy. One thing I learned in that time was what I could do to make my equipment better suited for me and my mission set. Naturally, I took that perspective and started looking for ways to make the revisions I wanted done a reality. I found that in Forward Operating Base Warrior, Kirkuk, Iraq, where some folks from the 25th Infantry Division had an old sewing machine laying in a corner. Thanks to the marvels of the internet, I ordered some raw materials from the depths of an old Iraqi bunker. The rest is history for me. The transition from military member to military contractor was a seamless one. I still maintain good order and discipline, utilize my chain of command firmly, translate my perspective to those appointed over me, and still take the fight to the enemy…although by different means now. I do it by developing the best products the fighting man or woman could ask for, thereby making them more effective in the field; spending less time worrying about their kit, and more focus on the task at hand.

The transition is nothing more than a mindset adjustment. While some things change, most are the same to a degree. Taking the man out of the field, cleaning the dirt off his face, and teaching him to not use curse words as often is a transition…but an easy one knowing I still help on the field of battle.

Lighter..Faster..Stronger.”

Highlighting this Week’s MCE

As most of you know, the Maneuver Center of Excellence Exposition (MCE) at Ft. Benning was this week.  Raine wanted to share some photos from the event.

This picture shows the Infantry Museum building which is outside the main gate at Ft. Benning.

Here is the entry to Infantry Hall highlighting the Combat Infantry Badge.

Last but not least is an Iron Mike statue.

We enjoyed meeting some of you and seeing again so many men and women committed to defending our country.

Check Out Raine this week at the MCE

Raine Inc. will  be showing new products September 18th through the 20th at Ft. Benning for the Maneuver Center of Excellence Exposition (MCE).  Formerly called the Infantry Warfighter Conference, vendors gather to show their newest gear for today’s fighting force.  This show addresses the primary needs of the individual soldier, but also displays high-tech armored vehicles and equipment for entire units.

The real benefit of this show is the opportunity to meet with the young men and women who comprise our armed forces.  It is always good to hear their ideas and witness firsthand their devotion to our flag and country.

Will Romes, Raine’s Marketing and Product Development Manager, and I will be in attendance hoping to show new items and pick up new ideas as well.  If you will be attending the MCE, please come by and say hello.

Gearing Up for the September Military Shows

In an earlier post, Raine Inc. introduced our new Marketing and Product Development Manager, Will Romes.  He has come aboard fully engaged and is going full speed in coming up with new ideas and reaching out to the military to determine what new gear they need.  Although details aren’t ready for release just yet, he is working at adding new items to our assortment which we will be showing in the near future as we travel to visit military installations around the country.

Raine will also be showing new items at the upcoming industry shows.  The first two of these will be in mid-September.  From September 18th through the 20th, Raine will be at Ft. Benning for the Maneuver Center of Excellence Exposition (MCE).  Formerly called the Infantry Warfighter Conference, vendors gather to show their newest gear for today’s fighting force.  The show addresses the primary needs of the individual soldier, but also displays high-tech armored vehicles and equipment for entire units.  The second show is the Modern Day Marine conference held at the Quantico Marine Base September 25th-27th.  Like the MCE show, this show will have everything a Marine would need for conducting military operations.  This show is larger than the MCE one because it addresses the needs of an entire Marine Expeditionary Force (without the ship), whereas the MCE is devoted more to the individual soldier.  The real benefit of being at these shows is the opportunity to meet with the young men and women who comprise our armed forces.  It is always good to hear their ideas and witness firsthand their devotion to our flag and country.

Will and I will be in attendance at both shows hoping to show new items and pick up new ideas as well.   If your travels find you in either area during these shows, please come by and say hello.
